Community Engagement

Discover how Graymont is getting involved in the community.

Commitments that address community aspirations

The Heritage Project is the result of a long process of consulting the community that began in 2012. Discussions culminated in 2016 with the signing of individual agreements with the City of Bedford, the County of Bedford and the Municipality of Stanbridge Station.

Graymont is committed to respecting all current environmental regulations pertaining to noise levels, dust emissions and environmental protection during the development period of the Heritage Project. Mitigation measures are in place to limit the impact of construction activities, and Graymont remains on the lookout for additional innovative solutions.

Beyond creating and financing an entirely public Regional Park and green space, Graymont is contributing to the community’s growth by investing in several different economic and cultural projects. For example, a new residential neighborhood incorporating approximately 30 building lots will be constructed near the Regional Park in conjunction with the City of Bedford. Graymont will oversee the allotment plan and road construction, after which the City will manage residential development.

Relationshipbuilt upon listening and dialogue

Several communication mechanisms designed to connect the community to Graymont are being made available during the development phase of the Heritage Project. These include a Monitoring Committee, a Info-Heritage Line and a dedicated project website. These tools aim to maintain an open dialogue by keeping everyone informed about the Heritage Project’s progress and enabling community members to engage with the project’s managers.
