The Heritage Project involves the development of a Regional Park and wooded green space in an urban setting, utilizing unusable stone overburden with no commercial value from Graymont’s limestone extraction facility in Bedford. The project represents a highly original and sustainable solution to a stockpiling issue, which was reached through dialogue between the company and the community. It will enable Graymont to maintain its activities in the region, while ensuring that the project is well integrated into the local landscape. As for the community, it will progressively gain access to a major new public recreational area. In short, the Heritage Project is a true legacy for the community
