The Monitoring Committee

The Heritage Project Monitoring Committee is Graymont’s favoured channel for establishing and maintaining a respectful and open dialogue with the community during the project’s development period.

The Committee’s Mandate

  • Ensure that the development work complies with current regulations, environmental requirements and industry best practices;
  • Make proposals that aim to improve work practices, reduce the project’s impacts and facilitate dialogue if and when issues are raised;
  • Relay information to the community to foster a good understanding of the project and a smooth development period.

Committee members are to be nominated for two-year terms, except during the initial selection process, when half of the members will be appointed for three-year terms.

Who Sits on the Monitoring Committee?

The committee consists of citizens neighbouring the work site as well as representatives from local organizations, municipalities and Graymont. Coordination is ensured by independent professionals who are responsible for facilitating meetings and providing secretarial support.

Meeting with Bedford's residents
July 6, 2019

The Monitoring Committee of the Heritage Project was part of Bedford’s summer festival, held on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Members had the opportunity to discuss the ongoing construction with the visitors, as well as the work done by the committee. Visitors were thrilled to “walk” in the future park, thanks to an Augmented Reality (AR) animation. The festive event was an opportunity for many to get to know the citizens and Graymont staff involved in the Monitoring Committee.

July 2019 marks the one-year anniversary of the start of the construction work.
